Beethoven wrote his Ninth Symphony when he was almost completely deaf. Cai Glover is hard of hearing and has chosen to dance without his hearing aid. What do our senses - or lack of them - tell us about our world and, above all, how do they guide us beyond our differences?
Perception, embodiment, challenge, empathy. Together, Hélène Blackburn and Cai Glover embrace the grandeur of one of the greatest masterpieces in the classical repertoire: Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. In this new iteration, co-directed by the two artists, the choreography transcends the senses, allowing the pure magic of dance to fill the gaps created by the limitations—big or small—that distance us from our realities. The company’s signature precision continues to guide the beauty of virtuosic movement, inviting us into a bold exploration of human emotions. This journey is intensified by Cai’s quest to embody the dancing spirit of a hard-of-hearing choreographer.
9.2 takes its inspiration and roots from 9, a Cas Public co-production with the Kopergietery de Gent in Belgium, created in 2016.
